Indeed. Have you checked out Cygwin? It's a Linux emulation layer for windows. It's not as good, really, but it's a reasonable substitute for those stuck in windows. If you want to try out *real* Linux (and you've got broadband) without messing with your hard drive, you could try out Knoppix. You'll need broadband because it's a 700MB ISO image. :) Knoppix comes with some great image editing stuff, too, like The GIMP and Sodipodi. Knoppix is also a good way to see if Linux supports your hardware (like your scanner, digital camera, modem, etc., which are likely to have only windows drivers). And if you like it, you can install it on your hard drive.
